Does your brake make a scratching noise? Do you feel like your brakes aren't working as well as they once did? Or maybe you just unboxed your brand new electric scooter only to find your disc brake is slightly bent. All of these things are common issues with disc brakes and are super easy to fix!
Here's our step-by-step guide to fixing your disc brakes. Although this article outlines fixes on a VSETT scooter, the same steps work to fix any electric scooter with disc brakes.
Step 1: Loosen Screws
Locate the two outer screws holding your disc brake in place. Using an Allen wrench slightly loosen the bolts until the caliper slightly wiggles.
Step 2: Squeeze Brake
Your left handle-bar brake controls the rear tire. Either have a friend hold this brake, or find a rubber band to hold the brake down.
Step 3: Tighten Screws
While the brake is secured, return to the brake caliper you previously loosened and tighten the screws back down.
Step 4: Finish Up
Release the brake (either remove the rubber band or tell your friend to let go). Next, pull the throttle! Your brake should be working great!
